So, though I didn’t want to believe it, life can get pretty darn busy with the introduction of a new child into your life – especially a crawling, pooping, crying, laughing 6 month old child who would like nothing better than to spend all of his time with you. Don’t get me wrong, I love the guy more than I love stouts and want to hang out with him too… It just doesn’t leave a lot of time for beer making or beer blogging.
To catch you up, the most recent things that we have done are: make Balrog 2 – a lighter, more drinkable and splendidly tasting Scotch Ale… which I never did end up writing ‘results post of’, eh? Well, it turned out great, and only gets better with age! I’m drinking it right now! and secondly, we FINALLY figured out this whole kegging business! Turns out, if you rely on new equipment to make your life better, make sure it’s not broken! That’s about it. Sure, we have had our fair share of beers to drink and new breweries visited, but alas, no time to chronicle them. For example, here is a pic of me and mr. Cameron dining on some monster Dunkleweizens from the awesome German pub, Prost!
But Spring is here and the ghosts of beer past are calling my name. So, with the help of my amazing wife, we will be revisiting an old favorite – Janey, and taking some tricks from her book by making a ‘Juniper Splashed Pale Ale’ with the same ingredients as last time, but with Juniper Berries in the place of Rose Hips. ALSO, I have in the books to make a Black IPA next month and with the help of Cameron, entering the strange and awesome world of Meading!!! (making mead).
Hopefully I will have time to do it all and share the experiences with all of those who would like to see how an amateur home brewer braves new frontiers and enjoys life to the fullest!
Until next time,
